Sylvain Joins Porcupine Racetrack Rendition 2020

An amazing thing just happened during quarantine. The full cast of MTV’s cult classic sketch comedy series, The State, virtually reunited during our Covid-19 quarantine, giving us a gift we didn’t know we deserved: a 2020 rendition of the song “Porcupine Racetrack.”

“Porcupine Racetrack 2020” is a Zoom-ified rendition of the group’s iconic sketch. It originally aired (against the wishes of network executives) during The State’s third season in 1995. All 11 members of The State reunited (virtually, of course) for this fantastic social distancing-inspired version. That includes dancing David Wain, Kevin Allison (dressed exactly like we’d expect him to be), Michael Ian Black, Ben Garant, Todd Holoubek, Michael Patrick Jann, Kerri Kenney, Thomas Lennon, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, and Michael Showalter. And the song’s original musical arranger and composer Theodore Shapiro joined in on piano, with a group of amazing musicians including TZME’s founder, Sylvain Carton, on clarinet.
